Celebrating a Birthday at Home: Having Fun and Mitigating COVID-19

Happy family gets together to celebrate a birthday at home while eating a birthday cake.

It’s safe to say that the coronavirus has thrown many people off. As a result, many special events had to be canceled. If your child’s birthday is approaching soon, then you’re probably contemplating day in and day out with how you’ll be able to celebrate, despite the fact that people cannot gather in large groups. Although many businesses and sources of entertainment are closed or have limited operating hours, there are still many ways in which you can get creative and celebrate your little one’s birthday. The Bob-O’s Family Fun Center team is here to provide some tips and tricks!

Get Savvy With Decorations

You can make your little one feel extra special on their birthday by announcing it to the world! Not only can you embellish your home with decorations, but you can also post signs in your front yard for all to see!

Plan Virtual Games

If you’re planning on hosting a get-together with guests via video chat or video call, you can still make games and activities possible. For example, you can have everyone participate in a scavenger hunt, where everyone returns with items that can be found in their own homes!

Make a Video Compilation

One of the best ways to celebrate your child’s completion of another year in life is by putting together a video of your favorite memories with them. This can also show all your guests how much they have grown! Going through old pictures and videos is always enjoyable.

Feast on Your Child’s Favorite Food(s)

If you want to kick up your child’s birthday celebration up a notch, you should consider cooking their favorite meals and foods! It’s already hard enough not being able to have their friends and family around. Comforting your child with their primary choice of a meal always works!

Have Family and Friends Send Out Gifts and Cards Ahead of Time

You and your child don’t have to wait for the coronavirus epidemic to end in order to receive gifts and letters. You can inform all of your child’s guests, family members, and friends to send out their gifts before the celebration that way your child can enjoy the endless amount of fun that comes with unwrapping!
